Welcome back to The Contrarian edition and best of luck in the second year of the Leadership reference! Thank you Sebastian for the learning opportunity and for the wisdom gained by reading these posts.
I started reading Zero to one few days ago and loving it so far. The question asked in the book and here, it's not an easy one and I admit the answer only came after reading how you would answer it... so thank you for that as well. I'll say that I strongly believe that not everyone can be a great leader no matter how many books they read or training they get. I can go into details of course but I'm curious, as a leader yourself, do you agree with my statement or not?
Hi Minodora... thank you for taking on the challenge... and for giving it a try. I will not be the ultimate judge of the proposed statement but I would say that in order to be a true contrarian it has to be more than your opinion, meaning that you would need to start by holding a well accepted truth and then express your belief... so in this case, it would need to start by saying "Most people believe that you can become a great leader by reading a lot of books or doing courses on leadership, however..." and then you explain what your position is. The potential problem with this statement is that I am not sure that most people believe that. Now, if it were true that most people believe that, then you would need to say after that, in what you believe to be the opposite. Hope it helps.
