Interesting. I’ve always thought that changing perspective is an opportunity to see and feel beyond what is. It seems to be easier to do on some things but not others so that’s a work-in-progress. Learning to accept things are different and adapting to changes sometimes does mean letting go and takes time. I do love the bats dancing!
Thanks MariLynn for your comment. I agree, it is not easy. What is inspiring to me is to think about this in 2 ways… one is what we see that changed and we need to learn to adapt, and two is what we know it has changed but we can’t see it yet, so until we re-see and visualize the completely new, we can’t even think about how to adapt because we don’t have the right frame of reference yet.
In simple terms… one is to see the bats changing around us but assuming they are still flying, so we can adapt. Another situation is see the bats moving but not having seen yet that now they are dancing, not flying… so if we “adapt” before we “re-see” we will fail, we will be adapting to a wrong interpretation of the world around us and it will not be a succesful change.
On another note: Happy Thanksgiving Sebastian! Enjoy the time with family and friends and thank you for letting me be part of the Leadership reflections.
I like how clear and easy to understand is the concept of re-framing, learning to see the reality and the concept of re-seeing and how it applies in a world that changes so fast. Change is difficult for most people and learning to re-see may not come easy either. First step is to be aware... what I think I see may not be the reality... it's what my brain think it is based on previous experiences, background, education etc.
Thank you Minadora for your presence here and support. Happy Thanksgiving

So the order is: un-see, re-see, then adapt/adjust/ learn?

Does re-seeing apply only to change or we can apply it when we put ourselves in someone else's shoes?
I love this comment Minodora! Empathy requires learning to re-see
Absolutely! In some way that is perhaps the most profound way of reseeing possible, deep empathy
Reality is: I cannot "un-see" those bats no matter how hard I try 😅
It is brutal! After you see that it cannot be unseen
Yup! Leave it to the bats to explain complex concepts 😀
