"The best way to predict the future is to create it." - Peter Drucker
Peter Drucker, the austrian-american father of modern management, is clear here about the importance of being proactive and forward-thinking. A good leader doesn’t just react to changes and challenges in the environment, but actively study trends to predict and anticipate the future so to build capabilities that allow to take full advantage of the future to come.
A proactive leader is constantly seeking opportunities to improve their organization, is not satisfied with the status quo and is always looking for ways to innovate and stay ahead of himself and others.
On the other hand, reactive leaders are caught off guard by unexpected events and tend to make decisions based on immediate circumstances. Because they lack foresight they struggle to adapt ahead of events.
